Here's what we were working with - a manhole collar that had completely separated from the surrounding pavement, leaving the area sunken, crumbling, and wide open to drainage problems. The old asphalt around it had broken down to loose gravel. It's the kind of thing that looks minor at first glance but causes real damage over time if you leave it alone.

The issue with a failing manhole area isn't just cosmetic. When the pavement around it sinks and breaks apart, water has nowhere to go except down - right into the base material. That weakens everything underneath and the problem spreads fast. We see it all the time in properties around the Mount Washington Valley, especially on sites that sit close to water.

We cut out the deteriorated section, regraded the base, and laid fresh asphalt tight to the manhole ring. The goal was simple - get the drainage working correctly again and lock in a stable surface that isn't going to shift or sink. No shortcuts on the base work, because that's what actually makes paving last.

The finished result is clean, solid, and properly tied into the surrounding pavement. The manhole sits flush, the area drains the way it should, and there's no more loose material collecting water and making the problem worse. That's the difference between a real repair and just patching over an issue.

Whether you've got a sinking spot, a manhole that's riding high or low, or asphalt that's just plain falling apart - those problems don't fix themselves. We work throughout the Mount Washington Valley and take this kind of site work seriously from start to finish.
